AI-based solutions have been getting common in various fields of human activities, since advanced computing technologies such as generative AI and deep learning techniques appeared. When we turn our attention to creatures’ intelligence, we see that creatures are developing their intelligence through the interaction with environments, and there all creatures are skillfully using their bodies. The entity of the body seems to restrict creature’s action and perception due to the finiteness in time and space. On the other hand, the restriction of the finite body gives the creature good motivations to optimize the link of action and perception that causes development of intelligence. In this technical session, we are going to overview the intelligence from the viewpoint on physical and/or cybernetic interaction with environments, and explore a new paradigm to develop intelligence effective for both human and machines. The discussion in the session will include topics on human communication and education, too. |

The transition to a sustainable society is an urgent issue. To achieve this, we must make effective use of renewable energy. In other words, "energy creation," "energy storage," and "energy conservation" must be promoted. At present, the main source of "energy creation" is power generation from solar energy. However, in Japan, where there is little flat land, there are only a few places where solar panels can be installed. Solar panels are being installed on slopes, but the relationship with landslides is becoming an issue. Storage batteries are the mainstream for energy storage, but their size, weight and price are hindering their widespread use. In the area of energy conservation, replacement of equipment is being promoted to improve efficiency, but there is the problem of recycling. Thus, the realization of a sustainable society requires not only technological development, but also development from a broad perspective and with the understanding of society. This session will provide an opportunity to exchange information on the latest technologies related to renewable energy. |

Even automobiles, which realize free movement, have entered an era of great consideration for the environment. (1) The knowledge gained from racing engines that have pushed the efficiency to the limit is valuable for the innovation of internal combustion engines, even among efforts toward carbon neutrality. (2) In the case of an electric vehicle, ground-breaking improvements in maneuverability are expected due to lowering the center of gravity by placing the battery under the floor and reducing the yaw moment of inertia. In fact, such a car has been created, and surprising dynamics evaluation results have been confirmed. (3) On the other hand, there is concern that pitching ride comfort will deteriorate due to increased weight and reduced pitch inertia. There are various issues such as the suspension arrangement for mounting the battery, the rotational inertia change of the power train and mechanical parts, and the stability of the vehicle due to the reduction of friction. In response to this, the effective use of mechanical parts such as limited slip differentials and high-performance dampers is attracting attention. (4) Quantification of subjective evaluations represented by steering reaction force, seat, and visual acuity is always desired. The so-called τL evaluation, which was developed at our university and evaluates the driving behavior of a driver using parameters identified as a driver model, is also attracting attention. (5) In addition to consideration for the environment, the use of a virtual environment is attracting a great deal of attention as a DX conversion as a model-based development evaluation environment, instead of using the actual machine, which requires a lot of reworking. It is also an interesting field for the configuration, application examples, and future development of the latest driving simulators. In this session, within the framework of "Environment and Automobiles", we will review the internal combustion engine technology for racing so far, clarify the possibilities and issues of electric vehicles, and clarify the current position. provide an opportunity to exchange information on vehicle evaluation methods and equipment. |
